White Slippers Slowing You Down?

Toss Out what's not workingI have these pretty, adorable white slippers.

I love them! They make me feel summery and girly.

Yet, every time I wear them to go out somewhere, I’m nervous.

These slippers have terrible grip you see. In the year I’ve owned them, I’ve nearly slipped and fallen about 90% of the time. Crossing roads, at traffic signals, climbing down stairs, walking on grass, you name it.

2 weeks ago I finally fell down. Hard. Boy that hurt!

So of course I’m scared it’s going to happen again. Not to mention they spoil my gait by putting pressure on my back and hips as I concentrate on walking slowly on the balls of my feet, leaning forward ever so slightly to keep my balance in case the slip happened. Wow, can you feel the tension there?!

You’d think I would know better.

Well, I do.

But I still wear them.

Huh? WHY?

Ahhh cos’ nothing tooo bad has happened, you see.

Yet.

I always save myself in the nick of time. I tempt fate. After all it’s a small price to pay for feeling great and looking good. And they’re just so darn cute!

Hmmmmm? Did I just say that?!

Really!? :O

So I’ll wear these slippers till something BAD happens?

*Sigh* sometimes, I just learn the hard way … It got me thinking..

WHY am I clinging on to something that’s doing me no good?

(Sometimes I have to ask myself a few times before I give me an answer!)

Oooh starting to sound familiar now. It’s like … like.. that habit you’ve come to not particularly like, but you do it anyways.

It’s not doing you any favours, it could even be keeping you from getting what you want (in the case above that would be to feel carefree and pretty – ain’t nothing carefree about a girl walking on eggshells now, is there).

The kind of habit like:

  • Pulling a face as you look in the mirror while getting dressed
  • Saying you deserve more and accepting less
  • Giving up on something before you even get started
  • Feeling that no matter what you do, you just can’t lose those pounds
  • Wanting to meet a great guy, then saying no to dates
  • Saying you want to eat better as you reach for the crisps
  • Wanting to save more and splurging on a pair of shoes

I could go on. But I’ll ask you, can you identify a habit like that? One that might possibly reduce the quality of an experience?

Or one that you say you don’t like or want to change and yet, find yourself repeating day after day?

I know I’m not the only one. We keep good company ay?

Wearing my white slippers might not have had a serious consequence so far but what if I slipped and hit my head someday? Would that have been worth it?

No.

A thousand times no.

Then why keep persisting with what hurts you, doesn’t make you feel good, keeps you stuck, stops you from moving forward, brings you down and wastes your time and energy, rather than changing those thoughts, beliefs and actions?

I know all those excuses you’re going to make.

I make them too.

Question is …. watchu gonna do?

If you’ve been doing and saying the same things and getting the same results, it’s time to throw those white slipper like beliefs and words away.

But only if you’re ready to stop tripping and falling and get a grip, of course. Ha! Count ME in!

Let GO of what you know doesn’t work for you as you create the life you want.

You KNOW it, now go SHOW it.

ps: Guess what’s going to be tossed away tonight? ;)

I’m curious. Got any “white slippers” in your life you could do without? What do you want to throw out? And watchu gonna do differently? I’d LOVE to hear your thoughts! Thanks in advance for sharing!
